Robert D. Alvarez
PhD Candidate - Political Science
University of Houston

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my website. I am a Ph.D. candidate in American politics in the Department of Political Science at the University of Houston. My focus is political communication and my research interests are media effects, political behavior, media polarization, and Latino politics.

My dissertation explores the causes and consequences of differential media coverage, examining ideological extremity as a predictor of news coverage received by members of Congress.

I received my B.A. in Journalism from the University of Houston and worked as a journalist for several years before completing my MLA in Political Science at the University of St. Thomas.
